AI video detector guide

How to tell if a video is AI-generated

Got a clip in your feed or your inbox? Four checks, frame by frame, before you trust it or share it.

Frame by frame

Four checks, in the order you do them.

Scrub a clip one frame at a time. Each check shows a paused frame with the tell marked.

  1. Pause and scrub

Stop on single frames. Look at hands, teeth, jewelry and any text on signs or screens. Generation slips here first.

  2. Watch the physics

Hair, water and shadows should follow the same rules all the way through. Watch for things that merge, melt or drift.

  3. Listen closely

Check lip-sync, room tone and breaths against the mouth. A voice that sounds too clean for a busy room is a tell.

  4. Check the source

Read the metadata and content credentials (C2PA). See who uploaded it first, then run a reverse image search on a still.

Tells to look for: blink rate, edge shimmer around hair, text on the mug.

Spot AI video

Six tells, frame by frame.

Pause on any of these and look again.

Warped lettering on pages and signs

Paused frame, brackets on the text. Letters bend, repeat or turn to nonsense.

Extra or merging fingers

Paused frame, brackets on the hand. Count the fingers and watch where they join.

Background crowds that loop

Paused frame, brackets on the back row. The same walkers repeat or fade out.

Shadows that point the wrong way

Paused frame, brackets on the shadow. Light and shade should agree.

Lip-sync that drifts off the words

Paused frame, brackets on the mouth. Shapes lag or miss the sound.

Skin too smooth to be real

Paused frame, brackets on the cheek. Real skin has pores, marks and uneven light.

AI video detector questions

Are online AI video detectors reliable?

An AI video detector is a check, by tool or by eye: it looks for the marks generation leaves in pixels, sound and metadata. No single tool is reliable on its own, so treat a score as one clue and confirm it with the frame checks and the source.

What are content credentials and how do I check them?

Content credentials (C2PA) are signed records attached to a file that say how it was made and edited. Open the file in a content credentials viewer. A missing record proves nothing either way, since most uploads strip it.

Can AI video be made undetectable?

Some clips pass every visual check, and nobody can promise a tool will catch them all. That is why the source and the uploader matter as much as the pixels.

Does Frameo mark its videos as AI-made?

You decide how your video is labeled. Add an on-screen AI label or caption and say it in the post. The Add Subtitles skill can carry the label for you.

Should I disclose AI video on social platforms?

Many platforms ask you to label realistic AI-generated video. Check each platform's current rules before you post, and label it when in doubt.
