How to lip-sync an avatar

Four steps from still face to talking avatar.

Upload a face, add a voice, check the sync and export. Frameo matches the mouth to every sound.

  1. Upload a face

Use a photo or a generated avatar. Pick a front-facing face with the mouth closed and even light.

  2. Add the voice

Type a script and pick a voice, or upload your own recording. Either way, the audio drives the mouth.

  3. Sync and preview

Frameo matches mouth shapes to each sound. Scrub the timeline and check the hard ones: M, B and P.

  4. Export in your format

Choose 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, with captions on. Then post the talking avatar where it belongs.

Lip-sync mouth shapes

Every sound has a mouth shape.

This is what avatar lip-sync software gets right or wrong: six shapes, matched to the sound you hear.

Avatar lip-sync software questions

Use a sharp, front-facing face with the mouth closed, even light and nothing covering the lips. Look straight into the camera, with the face filling most of the frame.

Yes. Upload a clean recording instead of typing a script, and Frameo syncs the mouth to your audio. Less background noise gives you cleaner mouth shapes.

Any clear voice track can be synced, as in the Spanish lesson example above. Preview the hard sounds before you export, since mouth shapes vary from one language to the next.

Intros, promo lines and lessons are the usual length. For videos over five minutes, Frameo's longform flow generates your assets first, then the video. The exact cost of a render is shown before you generate.

Give your avatar a voice.

Upload a face, add a script and preview every mouth shape before you export.
